Around 1955 Lone Star diversified further by buying out a small North London manufacturer of hollow-cast metal figures called Harvey. ... It was natural that Lone Star would go on to make vehicles and accessories to accompany these figures such as...the Modern Army series for the paratroopers. ...Some castings like the DUKW, the armoured car and the Bren gun carrier belonged only to the Modern Army series whereas others, such as the Dodge truck and the Jeep, overlapped with the later Roadmasters series. By 1959 there were 18 models in the Army series and over 200 different Harvey figures. (From the book Lonestar, The Toy Company and Its Model Cars, by Andrew Ralston)
